The Diaspora Star

I have created this star as a symbol of Jewish identity. I call it the Diaspora Star and it can be used to represent Jews of all kinds, from all backgrounds and from all places. The star has these qualities:
  • Eternalness: The enduring nature of the Jewish people throughout history. The colors represent the eternal flame. In addition to what is traditionally ascribed to the Ner Tamid, I see it as symbol of continuation.
  • Diaspora: The separated blades of the star represent the diaspora, but also the variety and diversity of modern Judaism.
  • Togetherness: Despite the the space between the blades, the share a common shape and are not so far apart.
  • Inclusiveness: Include all of Judaism, from the very religious to the secular and cultural Jews to people who don't consider themselves Jewish at all.
  • Harmony: The symmetry is a symbol of peace and accord.
